How To Calculate Quantity Of Soil/Sand For Filling Plots

Image
Soil filling is one of the essential features required for every construction projects. So that the site gets developed and prepared for construction. In this article, We will discuss how to calculate the quantity of soil/sand and no. of trally/tucks required for filling plot. Let, Length of the plot = 50 feet. Width of the plot = 40 feet. Area of the plot = Length x Width = 50 x 40 =2000 sft. Suppose we need to fill the plot by 3’5” = 3.41 feet. ∴ Depth of the plot = 3.41 feet. Volume of plot to be filled = 2000 x 3.41 = 6820 cft. This volume is for loose state. For full compacted state, required quantity of soil/sand for filling the plot = 6820 x 1.30 = 8866 cft (1.30 is factor) Now we will calculate required no of trally/ trucks. Suppose a trally can carry 70 cft soil. ∴ No. of trally rerquired = 8866/70 = 126.65 = 127 no. of trally. Suppose a truck can carry 500 cft. ∴ No. of trucks required = 8866/500 = 17.73 = 18 no. of trucks.

Who To Check The Quality Of Cement At Site, Field Test of Cement

Image
In some cases within short time it is required to evaluating the condition of the supplied of cement at site. So here are some quick fields for check the quality of cement. Although these tests are not very accurate, they provide some basic idea to the civil engineer regarding the quality of cement. Field Tests of Cement for Civil Engineers 1.   Date of Manufacturing : As the strength of cement reduces with age, the date of manufacturing of cement bags should be checked. 2.   Cement Color: The color of cement should be uniform. It should be typical cement color i.e. gray color with a light greenish shade. 3.   Whether Hard Lumps are Formed: Cement should be free from hard lumps. Such lumps are formed by the absorption of moisture from the atmosphere. 4.   Temperature Inside Cement Bag: If the hand is plunged into a bag of cement, it should be cool inside the cement bag. If hydration reaction takes place inside the bag, it will become warm. 5.
